Caroster is the carpooling Doodle that offers a simple, free alternative for organizing carpooling for events or leisure activities, whether for a group of friends, an association, a sports club or even a company, to get somewhere together with fewer cars.

Caroster Plus is the ideal solution for larger events such as festivals, concerts, or major sporting events. 

By using Caroster, you contribute to the creation of a digital commons designed to facilitate and optimize the mobility of groups of people while reducing CO₂ emissions.

Caroster makes it easy for event organizers to offer carpooling to participants. Caroster offers 3 solutions:

Caroster Basic is designed for organizers of small events such as:

• A private individual for an occasion such as a wedding, a birthday or a weekend with friends

• An association for a trip

• A sports club for matches, tournaments, training and competitions

• A company for a seminar, training course or staff outing

On a principle of trust in a circle of knowledge, everyone can change everything, and no registration is required.

Caroster Plus is aimed at the organisers of larger events wishing to set up a complete carpoling solution, such as:

• A municipality organizing events on its territory (cultural, sporting or festive events)

• A company for a major seminar or a large staff outing

• A festival

• A concert

• A sporting event

Connections are secure. Administrators associated with the event organization handle moderation.

Caroster Pro is aimed at organizations wishing to implement a carpooling solution that meets their specific needs, such as:

• A company for its staff's commuting between different company sites and their homes.

• An event agency that wants to offer a carpooling solution for its customers' events

• A venue that needs a carpooling solution to provide alternative mobility solutions to its audience.

I am an event organizer:

If you would like to organize or facilitate carpooling for an event you are organizing or that interests your community, follow these simple steps:

• Create your event: Go to the Caroster homepage and choose "Organize a carpool". Fill in the essential event information such as name, date, address, a description and your email. Your event is created!

  You have the option of simply logging in with your email address to easily retrieve your Caroster. This is not mandatory, but recommended.

• Confirm and manage: You will receive an e-mail confirming the creation of your event with the link you can share.

• Participate personally: If you are also taking part in the event, you can add yourself as a driver or passenger. Please follow the instructions below.

I am a passenger:

If you are a passenger looking for a driver for an event:

• Access the event page: Follow the link you received to access the carpooling area of your event. 

• Search for a seat in a car: In the "Trip" tab, available cars are displayed with the number of available seats and essential information. If no car is available at your departure location, you must register on the waiting list by entering your name, email address, and, optionally, the desired departure location. You will then receive an email notification to let you know when a new trip has been added.

• Register in a car: If a car is available and matches your criteria, simply click on "Add to trip" for the car concerned. You will be asked for your name and, optionally your email address. If you're on the waiting list, you can click on "Place" and select the car you want from the "Waiting list" tab. By adding your email address, you will be notified of any changes to your trip. As a passenger, you are responsible for contacting the driver via the telephone number provided.

I am a driver:

If you are a driver and would like to offer free seats in your car for an event:

• Access the event page: Follow the link you received to access the carpooling area for your event. Logging in is optional, but allows you to receive email notifications when a passenger has been added to your trip.

• Add your trip: Click on "Add a trip" and enter the details of your trip, including the name of the car (free choice), your telephone number, the date, time and place of departure, as well as the number of seats available and any other useful information to help you meet your passengers. Click on "Add" and your trip is published!

• Connecting passengers: If you are logged in with an account, you will receive an email notification when a passenger is added to your trip. Passengers will contact you using the phone number you provided. 

Yes, Caroster Basic is a 100% free carpolling application.

It is subsidized and does not sell your data to other companies.

There is also a Caroster Plus version for events of 100 people or more. The money raised by this service contributes to the maintenance and sustainability of the project.

No, you don't need to create an account to use Caroster.

We simply ask for the email in the Caroster Plus version to secure access, receive notifications about your trips and manage administrator access.

You also have the option of entering your email address in the Caroster Basic version to view and access all your events from the "Dashboard" view, plus a few additional features.

Anyone can modify any information in a Caroster. The application follows the principle of trust that everyone is well-intentioned. And so far, this principle is working very well ☺️

However, if you wish to secure your event's editing rights, simply switch to Caroster Plus.

If you wish to delete your account, simply send us a request via the contact form and we will deal with it as soon as possible.

Currently, it is not possible to delete an event or your account directly from the user interface. This feature is planned, but raises data management issues. We are working on making it available soon.

Caroster does not intervene in the arrangement of expenses between carpoolers. Users are free to manage costs as they see fit, outside the platform.

Adding a telephone number for the driver of a car allows passengers to contact him/her, so that they can make the best possible arrangements according to their needs. The phone number is not used for any other purpose.

In the Caroster Plus version, the driver's telephone number is only visible to passengers registered for the trip, and vice versa.

Your personal data is protected in accordance with our data protection policy. We only collect the information required to manage carpools (name, email, telephone number), and this data is only used to coordinate trips. To find out more, please consult our Data protection policy.
