Carpooling code of conduct

Caroster's code of conduct reflects the essential values of carpooling. It is based on the commitment of each individual to behave in a supportive, respectful and responsible way.

It encourages all participants to actively contribute to a harmonious carpooling experience, showing consideration for others and respecting common rules.

This common framework is designed to strengthen mutual trust and ensure a safe, pleasant journey for all.

1. Carpooler commitments

Carpoolers mutually agree to:

COMMUNICATE

Indicate the place and time of departure, and warn others in the event of delays, changes or cancellations.

COMPLY WITH LAWS

Comply with all applicable environmental and local laws during the trip.

BE RESPECTFUL

Show courtesy towards carpoolers in your communications and respect each other's comfort.

RESPECT SCHEDULES

Arrive on time at pre-arranged meeting points, on departures and arrivals, to ensure a smooth organization for all.

2. Driver commitments

Drivers agree to:

KEEP THEIR CAR IN GOOD CONDITION

Ensure that the vehicle is clean, well maintained and that all safety equipment is functional.

INFORM PASSENGERS OF THE RULES

Clarify specific rules from the outset (no smoking, food, pets, etc.).

ENSURE PASSENGER SAFETY

Respect the rules of the road, adapt your driving to the conditions and ensure the safety of each passenger.

ACT RESPONSIBLY

Make sure the vehicle is covered by compulsory insurances and that you have a valid driver's license.

3. Passenger commitments

Passengers agree to:

RESPECT THE VEHICLE

Do not dirty or damage the driver's vehicle. Leave the area clean when you leave.

ACT RESPONSIBLY

Remain sober and respectful during the ride.

DO NOT DISTURB

Show courtesy and respect for the space and peace of mind of the driver and other passengers.

The distribution of costs is freely agreed between the users. The amount and calculation rules must be defined at the outset. No contribution to costs is imposed. Caroster does not intervene in the arrangement of costs between carpoolers. However, we believe that the amount of the contribution requested should not exceed the costs actually incurred (fuel, tolls, etc.).

4. Costs

If you are a driver

  • You are covered by your insurance. Damage to your vehicle will be reimbursed in accordance with your policy's liability and coverage provisions.

  • If you are entirely at fault for the accident and your policy does not include coverage for vehicle damage, your insurer will not pay for material damage.

5. In case of an accident

If you are a passenger

  • Passengers are fully compensated for bodily injury by the driver's insurance, in accordance with third-party liability coverage.

  • If the vehicle is not insured, the Insurrance Guarantee Fund will intervene to cover your damages.
